BIOGRAPHY: Bob Goodman, User Experience Consultant

Bob Goodman is a leading user experience consultant specializing in business strategy, usability, information architecture, and interaction design. His business, BobGoodman.Net, Inc., is based in Boston and enjoys client relationships with leading global corporations as well as promising start-ups.

Bob has enjoyed a decade of experience in the area of online strategy and Web-based applications, helping to lead, manage and inspire top interactive design and development teams. Before launching his own business, he served as a user experience director at several top interactive agencies in the northeast.

As a usability consultant, Bob has run hundreds of usability labs, including sessions in China, Germany, and Russia. From these highly focused interactions with real-world users, he has extracted a unique set of principles and practices surrounding the user experience. At the core is his understanding of the ways in which a successful user experience flows from and supports smart business strategy and lasting brand value.

Bob is a member of the Usability Professionals Association, the Institute for Information Architecture, the ACM's Special Interest Group on Human-Computer Interaction, and the User Experience Network (UXNet.org), where he serves as the Boston Ambassador. He also serves on the editorial board of User Experience Magazine. His work has appeared in the New York Times Magazine, the ACM's interactions Magazine, Uxmatters.Com, and Boxes and Arrows.

He is a frequent awards show judge and speaker on UX, design, usability, and IA matters. Over the years, Bob has had occasion to work on just about every type of client engagement, including B-to-B, B-to-E, and B-to-C projects, Web apps, enterprise portals, enterprise application design, and customer relationship management tools. His vertical areas of expertise include high tech, pharma, health care, financial services, insurance, life sciences, and media. The breadth and depth of his track record enable him to serve as an engaging communicator who can unite different departments within an organization and bring focus and clarity to even the most complex of client challenges.
